El Salvador Grandmother Killed In Capitol Heights For Grandson's Funeral: Report

Police are looking to find a suspect behind the murder of a 62-year-old Capitol Heights woman.

El Salvador native Lydia Chinchilla De Carrillo was fatally shot in the 600 block Drum Avenue around 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, according to a spokesperson from the Prince George's County Police Department. 

Carrillo was in town for her grandson's funeral when she was killed, NBC Washington reports.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of a suspect or suspects responsible for the murder.
